How to calculate your stud length for LEATL series?
In order to calculate the stud length, first you'll need to select which receptacle you want to use.
There are the Clip- on receptacles and the Snap-in receptacles:
,
Next you need to choose if you want to use a grommet or retaining washer.
Depending on which you select, you need to use the below drawing to calculate the total panel thickness:
Snap-In receptacle with retaining washer: T = P
,
After selecting the receptacle, which retaining washer you wish to use, you just need to select the head style of the stud.
Then you're ready to calculate the stud length.
For example:
You wish to use the Type A receptacle LEARS1020Z and a slotted head stud, with a grommet, and you have a panel thickness of 2.7mm and a frame thickness of 1.2mm.
That means you need to use grommet LEAG170280, and the stud length formula you need is:
T = P + 1.2 = 2.7 + 1.2 = 3.9
,
If you'd prefer to use a retaining washer MHSWPS instead of the grommet, you need to use formula:
T = P = 2.7 , which results in stud length 8 which is used between T value 2.30 and 2.90
This results in the following part numbers:
Stud = LEATLS-8Z
Retaining washer = MHSWPS
Receptacle = LEARS1020Z
,
Note: you can use either the retaining washer or the grommet to hold the stud in place when the assembly is opened.
Do not use them together.
